Spectacles of a Different Kind

Flower boy, talented, handsome, swoon-worthy, adorable, cute, dorky are some descriptions fans used to describe this South Korean Actor. 

Lee Min-ho was born on June 22nd, 1987 in Seoul, South Korea. As a child, Min-ho dreamt of becoming a professional soccer player, playing in an arena full of cheering supporters. Like many childhood dreams, however, his was left not entirely fulfilled due to an injury sustained as a child. 

As he progressed through high school, Min-ho started to consider acting as his true calling. By his final year of high school, he was signed by Starhaus Entertainment. Like many aspiring artists, the starting point to stardom was filled with rocky steps for Lee Min-ho. One major setback occurred in 2006 when he and best friend, Jung Il-woo whom he befriended in high school, were severely injured in a car accident. 

After almost a year of rehabilitation, Min-ho returned to acting through a school-centric drama, Mackerel Run. This series was his first leading role, and he had high hopes of it becoming successful. Unfortunately, Mackerel Run’s sixteen episodes was shortened to eight. And the disappointment continued. Between 2007 and 2008, Min-ho continued to act in smaller roles in drama series, I Am Sam and Get Up, and films Public Enemy Returns and Our School E.T. 

His major breakthrough came at the start of 2009 when he was chosen to play the lead Gu Jun Pyo in Boys before Flowers, a Korean adaptation of the fame manga Hana Yori Dango. This role catapulted Min-ho into an overnight star. It’s safe to assume that Lee has made Gu Jun-pyo an iconic character in the fable of Korean dramas. And it is with this role that the name “flower boy” becomes a part of Min-ho’s public lexicon. 

Aware that Boys before Flowers was a perfect storm of success, Min-ho wanted to build upon his acting craft by portraying different characters. In the Spring of 2010, he took the challenge of playing a perfectionist architect, Jeon Jin-ho, in the romantic comedy, Personal Taste, starring opposite Son Ye-jin. After gaining further acting growth in this romantic comedy, Min-ho followed a different character path by choosing to act as a playboy turned heroic vigilante, Lee Yoon-sung, in a Korean City Hunter manga adaptation. After the success of City Hunter, Min-ho’s next acting endeavor was in the time-travel fusion sageuk, Faith, as General Choi Young. 

In hindsight, Lee Min-ho’s major career breakthrough in 2009 has also attracted a legion of fans, affectionately called Minoz. Since then, he has held numerous fan-meetings and endorsed many products throughout East Asia, in part as a vehicle to maintain and deepen his relationship with the fans. His most recent interaction with Minoz was through the release of his very first album, My Everything, and a recently completed tour in eight metropolitan cities around East Asia. 

This autumn, Min-ho will return to the small screen in the romantic-comedy, The One Who Wants to Wear the Crown, Bear its Weight -- Heritors. In this series, he will revisit high school setting as Kim Tan, an emotionally wounded upper class teenage heir looking for a reason to heal and live through love and friendship formed within the circle of high society.  

From a struggling actor to an overnight star, Lee Min-ho has since been solidifying himself as a leading man and serenading fans all over Asia and the world. He has come along way from that young boy who had a dream of becoming a professional footballer, displaying his skill and talent in a field of adoring home fans and fearful away supporters. But one remnant of that childhood dream is fulfilled -- he has created many spectacles in front of entertaining audiences. Just in a different field -- a stage with lights and cameras. Park Yoochun was raised in Seoul, South Korea but moved to Chantilly, Virginia in the United States when he was 11 years old (Sixth Grade) with his family. In 2001, at a song festival, he won the Daesang (the highest award) and started to spread his name around. In 2003 in a Youth music festival, he recieved a special award and because of that, he caught one of SM's recruiting team's attention. Yoochun's piano skills and song writing skills are great. He has written over 100 songs before his debut. He has good taekwondo skills too. In elementary school he represented the state's taekwondo team and performed with them on "Children's day". Micky Yoochun who has lots of talents, announced that he gave up his U.S Citizenship. It was to concentrate on his singing career. In order to keep up with the U.S citizenship he has to go to the states 2 or 3 times in a year. So it would be hard to peform in Korea all the time. Yoochun has announced that when he becomes an adult, he is going to join the army with DBSK members.

Official debut: December 26th 2003 in BoA and Britney Spears Showcase (with TVXQ)

Yoochun lived in Fairfax, Virginia for roughly four years since 1998 before he auditioned for Brothers Entertainment and was sent to Korea to SM Entertainment.

He had to take a lot of part time jobs to earn money to buy his first piano and for the plane ticket to Korea.

Micky was Yoochun's English nickname when he lived in Virginia.

Aftercoming back to Korea from America, he became a trainee for only six months before officially joining DBSK as the last member.

He appeared in Magolpi's debut music video "Flight Girl".

Going to Japan was his scariest experience so far.

Ramen is his favourite Japanese food.

He's into Japanese anime "Detective Conan" and used to collect (or still is ^^) Gundam Seed plastic models. He also loves to read comic books (mangas). His (young) fans often send them to him as gifts. His favorites are "One Piece" and "Bleach". 

Yoochun has 4 tattoos. The first one on his right leg, reportedly a feather, is an Indian symbol of brotherhood, that he and his brother Yoohwan share.The second one is on his lower back which says TVfXQMYC. The third one says "Always Keep The Faith", that Jaejoong also has. The fourth one is a wing, with "My Jaejoong, My Yoohwan, My Junsu" written above. The third and forth tattoos are both on his left chest. 

He had his first kiss during a ski trip, after debut.

He took a lot of part time jobs when he was in Virginia to help out parents financially. 

Yoochun is left-handed but he can write with both hands. He uses chopsticks with his left hand but he writes with his right hand.

He is very generous and often pays for meals. 

He wants to pursue acting.

He bought a house to live with his mother and younger brother after they came back to Korean from the US in 2008. 

Yoochun is often teased by other members because of his large forehead which is also the most common reason for his fights with Junsu.

Yoochun did Taekwondo for 6 years when he was in elementary school.

He opened an Italian ice-cream shop (Timeout Gelato) for his mother on Mother's day.

He is really scared of bugs.

He liked to sing, dance, dressing up and paying attention to hairstyles since he was small.

Yoochun still has asthma and allergy to dogs but he refused to let Harang be taken away. This is also why he sometimes has to wear sunglasses onstage. For now Yoochun has 3 dogs: Harang (The Love from God) - Alaskan Malamute, Namu (Trees ~ LOL) - Golden Retriever and Norae (Song) - Toy Poodle. It was Yoochun himself who went to puppies' shop and bought Harang and Namu and raised them since when they were tiny. Norae is fangift. One time Yoochun went out to buy foods for Harang (Namu was not there yet), he ran into some fans and they gave him Norae. He said that at that time, Norae was looking at him as if she wanted to say: "Take me with you!!!" 

He has a small stomach therefore native Korean food suits him the best. Every time he comes home from abroad, the first thing he has to eat is kimchi soup. 

Yoochun got his driving licence when he was 16 in America.

To him, the color of love is black.

He got an acrophobia, thus he couldn't ride the ferris wheel.

He wrote lyrics for his solo song My Girlfriend, one main song of TRICK series, at Starbucks.

When he is having supper, because he feels lonely, he will force others to accompany him.

As this is our 5th year (plus 2003/4) at soompi.com, we're setting up a website as a tribute to the international online fans who have continuously shared about Lee Byung Hun so unconditionally over these past years. Despite the setback, restrictions and heartaches along the way, EverythingLBH's ardent sharing never stops no matter what. Because EverythingLBH has never been officially affiliated with LBH, we don't know how Byunghun-ssi will feel about the website but many of us have been waiting since 5 years ago for an international LBH fan club and still waiting. However, we're not sure if we are able to wait another 5 years.. thus why we're doing this now while possible and it's done for the fans in mind. Realistically not going for anything fancy, or flashy nor high-tech trendy but something built from the heart and filling it up with pride being Lee Byung Hun fans we are & always will be.

Gratitude to taprokh for such diligent and consistent effort in setting up the site for us, right from scratch and making it fans-friendly first & foremost. We hope everyone will also feel the pride & love and no longer be reluctant or embarrassed being a part of EverythingLBH-soompi, now EverythingLBH.com as well. Coincidentally, due to the new soompi site-adjustment the "Everything' at the thread description have been dropped recently which seems like an indicator of some sort that could not have happened at a better time, huh.

Please understand that we only started with the idea end of July after BH's 40th birthday. In a way.. this is like our small gift for the 20th Anniversary.. better late than never, right? There are still really really really a lot to compile and share about LBH which we only have less than 40% posted but EverythingLBH will go on and on, like it always has -- here, where it all started. We could never thank everyone enough for all the unconditional sharing we had since 2003 and hope it will continue on for as long as possible.

As online fans.. we are obviously not the ones Byunghun often see & meet at the airports, events and gatherings but to us.. he is the person we see, follow, share and talk about every day albeit just on the internet. Hopefully this new website will enable more international English-speaking fans to know & find out about Korean actor Lee Byung Hun whom we all admire, respect and so adore.

9. How to solve stresses : I used to turn on TV and sleep. (When I woke up, I calmed down a little). I drank a lot without questioning. Nowadays.....my health isn't good as before.

10. What I dreamed : When I was a boy I used to say, "I want to be a medical doctor." because my mom wanted me to say so. After second thought, I guess

13. When I was happiest : Because I had heard the news that politicians put money in the box to give to a powerful man, I put my first big money in two square boxes (in cash). 14. What I regret : When I was at school, I never planned anything, did nothing special, and graduated for nothing. I wasted meaningless 6 years.

Lee Yo-Won was born on April 9, 1980, in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.  In 1997, during her sophomore year in high school, Lee Yo-Won applied for a modeling contest and was picked as the winner.  After the contest she debuted in the monthly fashion magazine "Figaro" (휘가로) for its November issue.  In 1998, Lee Yo-Won made her acting debut in the film "Scent of a Man".  While acting for her first movie, Lee Yo-Won sometimes tore up because staff members only applauded the other actors for their work. Then some staff members noticed her tears and mentioned she was good at tearing up.  That was the first time she heard positive words about her acting.  With her confidence building and gaining more attention from the staff members, Lee Yo-Won realized she wanted to pursue acting as a profession. 

For her second film, Lee Yo-Won played gas station attendant Galchi in the hit movie “Attack the Gas Station!” which sold 2.4 million tickets.  Thanks to the popularity of that film Lee Yo-Won started to gain recognition from the public.  Lee Yo-Won then acted in several television dramas.
In 2001, Lee Yo-Won's big breakthrough came in the KBS TV drama "Blue Mist" (Pureun Angae). For the first time Lee Yo-Won played the lead character in a TV drama and the series became a big hit.  The drama itself contained a controversial (for its time) storyline involving a woman in her early 20's becoming involved romantically with a married man in his 40's.  In the same year, 2001, Lee Yo-Won acted as one of the three main characters in the critically praised indie film "Take Care of My Cat" directed by female director Jeong Jae-Eun.  The film was chosen as one of the 5 best films of 2001 by "Cine Seoul" magazine.  Lee Yo-Won mentioned in a 2009 interview with "Elle Korea" fashion magazine that "Take Care of My Cat" was her most memorable work.  Lee Yo Won also got Baeksang Award for Best Newcomer Actress by the movie Take Care of my Cat.
In 2003, at the age of 22, Lee Yo-Won made the surprising announcement that she will marry.  On January 10, 2003, Lee Yo-Won married professional golfer & businessman Park Jin-Woo.  Lee Yo-Won temporarily put her acting career on hold while she went to the U.S. with her husband to study.  Lee Yo Won accompanied her husband to get Master degree in University of San Diego while Lee Yo Won also wanted to study English in U.S.
In December 2003, Lee Yo-Won had a daughter.  In an interview with TV show "Section TV - S Diary" on MBC, Lee Yo-Won mentioned that at the time of her marriage she was tired of acting and the demands placed on her.  One week before her marriage, Lee Yo Won still had to complete her filming schedule for drama “Daemang”, she was really at her peak and busy as an actress at that time as she decided to get married.
In 2005, Lee Yo-Won made her acting comeback in the SBS drama series "Fashion 70's".  She chose the role for three reasons: because it was a historical drama, that it was directed by Lee Jae-Kyu (who previously directed popular female oriented detective drama "Damo: The Legendary Police Woman") and that it dealt with a woman's career and success rather than a pure love story.  Actually she was afraid of her comeback that people can’t accept her. She got some criticisms for her life in US that she on purpose gave birth outside Korea. She said because now she has a family, if she was mocked, her family will get the impact too. But she got big support from her husband said that “don’t really bother of what people say”.
Before taking "Fashion 70s," Lee Yo Won starred in a movie “When Romance Meets Destiny” as supporting actress, she said she likes the character and on purpose not to take as lead actress for her first comeback to entertainment.  After "Fashion 70's," Lee Yo-Won acted in various drama and movies. She acted in medical drama "Surgeon Bong Dal Hee" as the main character Bong Dal Hee who was a resident doctor, struggling to be a surgeon even she herself had heart problem of her health. The Drama again made a success in TV rating, Lee Yo Won won Three Awards for this drama : Top Female Excellent, Best Couple (with Lee Bum Soo), and Popularity Award in SBS Drama Award 2007.
Another hit was movie "May 18" which was from real story of Gwangju incident in 1980, the movie attracted millions viewers on theatres and becomes first local movie in that year which can successfully compete against Hollywood movie.  The end of 2007 until half 2008, Lee Yo Won acted in drama Bad Love (Cruel Love) with actor Kwon Sang Woo. This drama was a mellow one about love, unfortunately the drama wasn’t good in TV rating in Korea, and it said that the genre wasn’t popular at that time in Korean drama industry.
In 2009, Lee Yo-Won performed in another smash-hit television series, this time in the MBC historical drama "The Great Queen Seon Deok".  Lee Yo-Won played main character Queen Seon Deok, who possessed extraordinary intelligence and strength.  In an interview with "Star News," Lee Yo-Won stated she was tired of playing woman who were fragile and weak and eagerly took the role of Queen Seondeok because of this. At first, some people doubt about her acting as Queen Seon Deok because they just recalled her acting as fragile and teary woman in Bad Love, but the PD and director of "Queen Seon Deok" believed that Lee Yo Won deserved the role, the "Bad Love" case wasn’t wrong with Lee Yo Won’s acting skill, she was good at it, what ruined the drama was the storyline itself.  And right, Lee Yo Won successfully played the main role Queen Seon Deok, the drama become drama of the year and national drama in 2009.  She played opposite Go Hyun Jung, even though some people always wanted to compare the two of them, but Lee Yo Won humble said that Go Hyun Jung is her senior and really appreciate her acting.
In 2010, Lee Yo-Won's next film "The Recipe" was released in late October.  She appeared at the world premiere for "The Recipe" during the Pusan International Film Festival (in which AsianMediaWiki attended).  During the question and answer session Lee Yo-Won stated she chose the film, because she wanted to work with another female director due to her great experience with "Take Care of my Cat." Although she was initially reluctant to take on another role of a "fragile woman," the movie's producer Jang Jin and movie director Lee Seo-Goon convinced this would be the right role for her. 
In 2011, LYW came back the small-screen with SBS Drama “49 Days”, and once again demonstrated her true value performing two unique roles: depressed Song Yi Kyung and cheerful Shin Ji Huyn. She was one of the most important factors for the success of this drama and has gained even more popularity after that.

2012 is a productive year with her when she took the female leads in 2 movies: Suspect X and Legend Punch and joined MBC anniversary drama: Horse Doctor. 
In Suspect X, she played Hwa-sun who kills her abusive ex to protect her child and a brilliant mathematician decides to cover her accidental murder; while in Legend Punch, her role is the head of a tough production team and a strong career woman who has the 'legendary team' eating out of her hands. 
For MBC medical sageuk “Horse Doctor”, she took the role of Kang Ji Nyung, a very progressive woman in the Joseon era. She was the lover at the same time the helper of Baek Gwang Huyn (Jo Seung-Woo) until he became the Royal Physician. Her presence in this drama became the discussion, it was not because of her acting skills, but because the development was too concentrated on the hero that somehow wasted her talent. However, she still received much loved from audience for showing an infinite variety of performance.

After Horse Doctor finished in early 2013, she makes her quick comeback to drama land in a SBS's drama. She will play the main female lead Choi Seo-yoon, a wise woman who is the second daughter of a wealthy family in “The Golden Empire". This drama will start to air in July, 2013.

There is an actress who made her debut 14 years ago, but always looks fresh-faced and angelic. STAR FOCUS sits down one-on-one with Kim So-yeon, an actress whose beauty and talent have never failed to mesmerize audiences.

Following last year, Kim So-yeon has been once again invited to the Pusan International Film Festival. This time she'll be introducing her short film "The Pictures" to the world. "The Pictures," which has been invited to this year's Wide Angle section of the festival, is a heartwarming film. This 20 minute film portrays the friendship between a beautiful photographer and a young village boy who is secretly devoted to painting. Having made her debut as a child actress, she quickly rose to stardom. She was still a teenager when she was cast as the lead in the 1997 film "Change." However, she delivered such a mature performance in the film that she became an instant household name in Korea. She also received a lot of acclaim from audiences for her first villain role in "All About Eve." In this regard, she says that she was able to realize her dream of being recognized as a talented actress.

Kim So-yeon is an actress who exudes both innocence and confidence. Although she usually looks like a person as sweet and cheerful as a romance comics' heroine, the 26 year-old actress sometimes looks rather like a cold-hearted person due to her elegant appearance. She also starred in the renowned director Hark Tsui's film "Seven Swords," which were jointly produced by Korea, Japan and China. Thanks to the film, which were selected as the opening film of the 62nd Venice International Film Festival, Kim was able to stand shoulder to shoulder with international stars. However, she has not appeared in any major production since she starred in the 2005 TV drama "Autumn Shower." Hence, a great many fans have long been awaiting Kim So-yeon's comeback. By the way, we asked Kim So-yeon, who has now reached her golden age to marry, whether she was planning to tie the knot with someone?

Although Kim So-yeon has lived almost half of her life as an actress, her passion for acting has not faded away. In fact, she has always had a burning ambition to become a greater actress. Although Kim So-yeon has had a long break, she has relentlessly prepared to make another great leap forward. She is at the moment reviewing several film and drama scripts to decide her upcoming work. We will look forward to seeing her great performances more often in the near future.

Jung So Min, born Kim Yoon Ji, is a South Korean actress who debuted in 2010 with the role of Hong Mo Ne
in the SBS drama Bad Guy led by Kim Nam Gil. She is best known for her portrayal of Oh Ha Ni, the leading
lady in the 2010 MBC drama Playful Kiss (Korean adaptation of the Japanese manga series Itazura na Kiss)
alongside Kim Hyun Joong (SS501). Before her acting debut, she has been featured in a number of music
videos and commercial films and played small parts in several films.

She studied ballet in elementary and middle school. In high school she studied Korean traditional dance
and has won many awards. She says that if she had continued to dance, she would like to have traveled to
other countries to spread Korean traditional dance. Aside from dancing, she also likes to take part in
sports like soccer and baseball and is good at physical fighting.

She took up acting classes to receive help for the emotional expressions for her dancing, but felt
that she'll have more fun acting than dancing during the first day of class. Rather than pursuing a
dancing major as originally planned, she took the exam to enter the acting major of the Korea National
University of Arts (K-Arts) and was accepted as a top student.

I can say with no doubt that 'We are dating now' is the best drama in my life.
Well, it was not much popular as Endless love, Glass shoes, Winter Sonata,
but anyway it's my favorate. ^^
This is a bright, cute, cheerful story.
But some scenes are very sad, I cried a lot.
After 10 years friendship, they become lovers.
For 10 years, they love, fight, take care, hate, say goodbye to each other.
This is a happy ending. So don't worry about the ending.^^
So Ji Sub looks so cute here.
His role is very shy, passive & conservative to woman, just like his real personality.
I'm sure he is not acting at all, he shows himself as he is. ^^
Maybe this story is about our ordinary Korean young people.

6. Love for thousand years (Mar/2003)

'Love for thousand years' is So Ji Sub's recent drama, released this year(Mar/2003).
The story is about Korean ancient history, 1400 years ago, Baek Je Dynasty.
That's why it is attractive to Koreans especially.
This drama is very exiting, high speed, mystery-like, so it will make you feel curious.
The princess Seong Yu Ri is really cute, looks so young. (She is young, 21 years old)
So Ji Sub is a brave general in ancient time, he is also a bodyguard of princess, loves her,
finally killed in front of her eyes.
Then the princess jumps under the cliff to kill herself.
But she doesn't die, just move to the modern times.
Then she meets So Ji sub again.
So Ji Sub is a poor fashion designer, he does everything for money.
He even sells the princess to the gangster.
First time he meets princess, he steals her neckless.
His personality is rude, coward, nervous, stubborn, poor to show his mind.
He disregards her, thinks she is mad, always shouts to her.
But as the story goes, he becomes to fall in love with her.
But he doesn't recognize it.
Watching how he is being changed is the best fun of this drama.
One more fun is So Ji Sub's gorgeous fashion!!
Frankly speaking, I couldn't focus on the story because his fashion is so fantastic in every scene.
