Biography

So Ji Sub was born on November 4, 1977. He started swimming in an early age. He continued swimming till his high school years. "In high school, I was a swimmer who was doing well. To be precise, I played water polo, which is known as “handball in water.” My skills were known. People would be surprised to hear that I was a national representative of junior water polo. I really enjoyed sports. It’s the same now, but my parents worried a lot because they thought I couldn’t adjust to teamwork because of my introverted personality. But the freedom inside water was a kind of release and escape for me. I parted water without desire, and the feeling I got in my body from it caught me from going into a bad path during my teenage years. Sports was a thankful existence for me. No, it still is my most thankful friend. "

Having an athletic background, he started modeling to make living. Being an avid fan of hip-hop group Deunx and Kim Seung Jae, he got the opprtunity to do modeling for denim jean with him. The sudden death of Kim Seung Jae was a big shock to him before taking the first step but "Like that, my mind’s idol passed. Ironically, the sudden death of my idol became an opportunity that opened another road for me. I had been supporting cast, but I was suddenly chosen as the main mode".

Being given the opportunity of starting his modeling work he met his long-time friends Seung Seung Hun and Park Young ha. He made his acting debut in the sitcom Three Guys and Three Girls and drama Model. But whereas fellow STORM model Song Seung-heon quickly rose to stardom, he had difficulty raising his profile. He appeared in small roles on television throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, and started to gain popularity when he was cast as the male second lead in Glass Slippers in 2002. "From my debut in 1995 to 2004’s “What Happened in Bali,” I had a nine-year period of obscurity. Back then, the flower-boy style of people like Jang Dong-gun, Han Jae-suk and Song Seung-hun were drawing popularity from the masses. During that time, I heard the phrase “Don’t be an actor” countless times."

So Ji Sub began to show his potential to become a true actor in 2004's What Happened in Bali, but was again overshadowed by co-star Zo In-sung. At the time, So thought he would end up being a supporting actor. But later that year, he had his breakout role as the tragic hero in smash hit I'm Sorry, I Love You. It made him a top star in Korea, as well as all over Asia. "As “What Happened in Bali” and “I’m Sorry, I Love You” became hit after hit, the awareness of the masses toward me changed. They accepted my own distinct charms and gave me love. I think that’s also when I earned the nicknamed ‘So Ganji.’"

He enlisted for mandatory military service in 2005 as a public relations officer with the Mapo District Office, and was discharged on April 27, 2007. He made his comeback in Jang Hoon's directorial debut Rough Cut, in which he played a thug who dreams of becoming an actor. Because of the film's low budget, So and costar Kang Ji-hwan decided to invest their fees back into the movie, and were credited as producers. So's performance was well received by audiences and critics, and the film became a surprise box office hit.

In 2009 he attempted to break into the Japanese and Chinese markets and the results were I'm a ghost which was a 24 5-min episodes and the movie Sophie's revenge. "I wanted to do a bright and cheery role because I've played so many sad and gloomy ones." He acted in drama Cain and Abel the same year.

In 2010 he headlined the big-budget Korean War epic Road No along side Kim Haneul.

He published his first photo essay (The journey of So Ji Sub) about his travels during the summer of 2010. The book includes his encounters with various people such as rapper Tiger JK, novelist Lee Oi-soo, cartoonist Park Jae-dong, artists dusicnddilddil and Korea's youngest bird researcher Jung Da-mi. The book was a big success in Korea. He was subsequently named the goodwill ambassador of Gangwon Province in an effort to boost tourism there and a 51 km-long trail in the province was named "So Ji-sub Road," which was unveiled to the public on May 20, 2012. He is the first Korean actor to have an entire road named after him.

A professed longtime hip-hop lover, he rapped for two original tracks – Lonely Life and Foolish Love – under the artist pseudonym "G" or "G-Sonic" for the Rough Cut and Cain and Abel soundtracks, respectively. In 2011 he released another digital single Pick Up Line under his own name. Two teaser videos were released, the first one described as a comedic version that featured guest stars Jung Joon-ha (who is a close friend of So's) and Kim Byung-man (whom So named as one of his favorite comedians). The single, along with the music video itself, was released on February 17, 2011, but recorded low sales.

During 2011 to 2013 he played two other movies "Always" With Hanhyo Joo and A company man. His second photo essay which covers 150 days of filming the movie Always was published in 2012. He published his magazine called SONICe in the same year. Ghost in 2012 was his next drama project which was a mild-hit.

He experienced his first romantic-comedy role in drama The master's sun which was a mega hit and proved his popularity and acting ability once more.

Facts

1. She attends Ewha Women's University in Seoul and is majoring in fine arts. The private women's university is considered to be one of the nation's most prestigious. One of her favorite mediums to create art in is glass.

2. Although she is not well known she is not exactly a rookie actress. She played Ji Sung's murdered pregnant girlfriend in "Secret Love, " was Shun Eun Ah in "City Hunter" and also had a role in the drama "She Is Wow."

3. Despite the challenge, she enjoys playing two roles in "Bride of the Century."

"It's fun to play two roles," she said. "But people don't talk to me when I play JangYi Kyung. I focus on my character, so I guess my looks change."

To make the transition between her two characters, she often takes an hour break in between. She also admits that she did find it hard to look at herself when she played the less than glamorous Na Doo Rim in the first few episodes. But she gracefully transformed into the chaebol's fiancée with only a minor makeover.

4. Lee Hongki of F.T. Island said he prefers her to Park Shin Hye. When Yang Jin Sung's co-star in "Bride of the Century" was asked whether he preferred her to his "You're Beautiful" co-star Park Shin Hye, he chose her.

"I like and am really comfortable being around both my co-stars," he said. "But I've always liked women who are older than me. So If I had to choose, I would probably choose Yang Jin Sung."

That's saying a lot as he and Park Shin Hye have remained friends and he recently helped her celebrate her birthday.

5. Even though Lee Hongki is comfortable with Yang Jin Sung, she worried about acting with him before the comedy began. She felt pressured by the fact that he was a popular idol.

"I was worried in the beginning but things got better as we started filming," she said. She also admits to being intimidated by Lee Hongki's fans that often visit the set. But she is no longer frightened of them and thinks they help make filming more enjoyable.

INTRODUCTION

Lee Sang-yoon (LSY) was picked out of a crowd on the streets of Yeouido by his former agency director at the age of 24.

Making his entertainment debut in 2005 in a Hite Beer commercial, he went on to star in several television series.

He won Best New Actor at the 2010 MBC Drama Awards for Home Sweet Home. Sang Yoon is best known for his starring roles in Life is Beautiful, The Duo, My Daughter Seo-young and Angel Eyes.

LSY made his first big screen leading role in the romance film Santa Barbara & was premier in South Korea on 16 July 2014.

In August 2013, LSY graduated from the prestigious Seoul National University with a degree in Physics.

He had entered as a freshman in 2000, but his acting career and mandatory military service had caused him to take several years of leave from SNU, resulting in his delayed graduation. Congratulations!

2013 LSY was one of the 30 celebrities who took part in the 10K Marathon for the '2013 Nike We Run Seoul Race', with proceeds donated to the charity program 'Dream Wings Bank', which is dedicated to helping children of low-income families.

2013 LSY along with Song Chang Eui and others stars, as members of a celebrity baseball team called IGIS, participated in a charity event for the elderly on 28.12.2013.

Career Profile

Ahn Yeon-seok lived in Seoul until he was six years old and his family moved to the South Gyeongsang Province because his father, a professor of selenodesy, was posted at a national university there. In his junior year in high school he decided to take up acting, so he followed his brother, who was studying another year to enter university, to Seoul and they lived together near the district of Samseong-dong.

While taking acting classes, the high schooler met a friend who would later work on the costume staff of film director Park Chan-wook. Remembering that he resembled actor Yoo Ji-tae, she gave him a call about auditioning for a role. So without having to pass out his resume, he made his acting debut as Yoo's younger counterpart in the acclaimed 2003 film Oldboy.

Upon graduation from Sejong University with a degree in Film Arts, he resumed his acting career in 2008. At his agency's recommendation, he began using the stage name Yoo Yeon-seok. He took on supporting roles on television, such as the haughty student body president in the horror series Soul and more appealing characters in medical drama Midnight Hospital and Tasty Life. But Yoo received his best reviews yet for playing a sensitive ex-boyfriend searching for his child in indie Re-encounter.

Soon after he became known to mainstream audiences as the rich and spoiled antagonist in the box office hit melodramas Architecture 10, and A Werewolf Boy.

He further raised his profile in 2013, with comedy film Born to Sing and the fantasy series Gu Family Book. Yoo's recently-completed project was the nostalgic campus drama Reply 1994, his first leading role on television.

In Ara's debut role, she plays an innocent 15 year old middle-schooler who has a lot of spunk and charm. She is always true to herself and other so you can't help but love her. This drama depicts the growing pains of a regular teen who is learning the lessons of life.

Ara continues her role of Lee Ok-lim in the sequel, which depicts her high school career. Compared to her hot tempered and childish personality in middle school, she's matured now. Throughout high school, she learns about love, rivalry, friends and herself.

[2006/2007 - SBS] 눈꽃 / Snow Flower (as Yoo Da-mi)

As Yoo Da-mi, Ara plays a completely different character from her previous roles. Yoo Da-mi is a rich, smart and polite high school teenager. When she learns that her mother has been lying to her, her whole life, Da-mi rebels and decides to pursue a career in acting.

Young-in is a girl fresh out of college who wants to become a comic artist. Due to her father's death and his debts, she is forced to quit her dreams when she meets a lonely man who is her exact opposite. Ara's most mature role yet, she plays Hae-bin, a rookie sports agent who discovers a hidden talent and wants to make him the most marketable player. She scorned for being a female in the sports world but depends on her own strength to survive.

Ara is rediscovered through her drama comeback as a loud and bright college student with an easy going personality. This drama travels back and forth from the 90's, early 2000's and present day, following the lives of the students at Shinchon boarding house, run by Na-jung and her family. It depicts the lives of the college students as they learn to love and experience the city of Seoul.

[2007 - Japan] 蒼き狼地果て海尽きるまで / Genghis Khan: To the Ends of the Earth and Sea (as Khulan)

Chosen from 40,000 contestants for the role of Mistress Khulan, this is Ara's movie debut; this movie is also reported to be one of the most expensive movies Japan has ever made. Ara plays the unrestrained and independent second wife of Genghis Khan. She holds a special place in the Mongol Empire and in Genghis's heart.

[2009 - Japan] 昴! スバル / Dance! Subaru (as Liz Park)

Liz Park is a Korean American ballerina who is a star pupil at the famous American Ballet Theatre in New York. Liz runs away to Tokyo out of boredom from the tedious life as a ballet student when she sees Subaru as a worthy competitor to revitalize her waning enthusiasm for ballet.

She is the "pretty bird" pole vaulter who is always in the light of the media. Her goal is to become recognized for her talents and after meeting a certain pacemaker at the Olympic track, she creates a friendship, perhaps romance, with Man-ho who helps her realize the strengths of her true talents.

Anyone with good taste and has watched Alone In Love will one, LOVE the drama and declare it to be one of the best in 2006 if not the best, and two, will have also noticed Lee Ha Na and her exceptional portrayal of the loveable character Yoo Ji Ho.
It was her debut drama and she did excellent, far better than the average actress in dramas.

It will be some time until she finds a project that will surpass the greatness of Alone In Love, but hopefully her new drama won't be a complete stink bomb.
