SONG IL KOOK is noted not only for his good looks and acting abilities in the Korean drama scene, but he also brings a distinguished family history.  He is the grandson of Kim Du-han, a well-known right wing politician, and the great grandson of General Kim Jwa-jin, a famous Korean Independence Movement leader.  His mother Kim Eul Dong is a talented actress, recently rejuvenating her career with Mapado (2005) and Golden Era of Daughter-in-Law (KBS, 2007).

Song Il Kook graduated from the Cheongju  University, majoring in Performing Arts, although he admits that he was more interested in art and design at the time.  His started  acting in Korean dramas in 1998 at the age of 27, and was considered a “late bloomer.”  He played many  small roles, populating daily and morning dramas, New Year's specials through the early 2000s.  His first significant role was in the action drama Bodyguard (KBS, 2003), playing a slightly off-kilter villain. Song's breakthrough, however, came from two roles in particular: Jang Soo in the weekend drama Terms of Endearment (KBS, 2004), and his impressive turn as Yeom Jang in Emperor of the Sea (KBS, 2005). In those two dramas, Song showed both sides of the acting spectrum: the charming everyday man and the most charismatic villain in the last few years.

Song attained mega star status when he was cast in Jumong (MBC, 2006), which brought him the prestigious Daesang Award in 2006. Jumong is one of the most successful Korean TV dramas of all time, capturing an average of 40% viewership, and staying on the number one chart for 40 consecutive weeks. Jumong continues to this day to be popular all over the world, in countries like the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, China, Iran, Turkey, and Iraq.  Jumong’s legacy was extended to the 2009 drama Kingdom of the Wind, where Song played Muhyul, grandson of Jumong.  Kingdom of the Wind was entered as a foreign in the 2009 International Film Festival.   He also won the KBS Best Actor 2009 award for this role.

Song typically takes on physically challenging roles that display his outstanding skills in sword-fighting, archery, martial arts and horsemanship.   Additionally, his talent as a sketch artist was captured in his roles as Yeom Jang  (Emperor of the Sea) and Muhyul (Kingdom of the Winds). He is a vice-president of the Korean Triathlon Confederation and participated in the 2008 Seoul International Triathlon, 2009 and 2010. In April 2008, Song carried the Olympic torch through Seoul.  

Besides acting, Song has modeled professionally, both on the runway and in print, and won the 2009 Asian Model Award.

On March 15, 2008, Song married a Busan High Court Judge (identified only by her family name "Jung") in a private traditional Korean wedding away from the media spotlight at the Sheraton Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul.  Because of her sensitive position as a legal counsel, she remains out of the media spotlight.

In 2009, the State of Hawaii honored him by designating March 21 as Song Il Kook day when he headlined a fan meeting in Honolulu.  An exclusive hibiscus flower, created by a fan, was named, GeNtLe Song , in his honor.  

As a result of his strong fan support in Hawaii, he insisted that the first episode of his 2010 drama, A Man Called God, be filmed in Hawaii.  Dramatic action scenes shot against the island’s natural beauty had never before been seen in Korean dramas.  In addition, Song prepared for his role as Michael King in this drama for 8 months by physically working out and losing over 30 lbs.  His new look was a stunning change from Jumong and Muhyul.

He is currently playing the dual lead roles in a stage play “I am You” in Seoul from July 27 – August 22, 2010.  It is the first stage play he has ever done, and it was especially challenging because he plays the role of a historic hero, Ahn Joong Geun, and his son, Ahn Joong Saeng, whose life is miserable for being kept in the shadow of his heroic father. His dedication and hard work is being rewarded with numerous positive reviews, sold-out shows, and standing ovations.  Song Il Kook has said his ambition is to expand his experiences in theater by taking on a variety of roles, the more difficult the better.  He especially values working and learning from other experiences thespians.  In his personal life, he has said he wants to be a good father, good husband, and strive to be a man true to his words.

[koreanfilm.org] Cha Seung-won (b. June 7, 1970) received an engineering degree from Mokwon University before embarking on a career as a model in 1988. After finding success in modeling, he was cast in the TV sitcom "New York Story", which would eventually pave the way for his debut in film.

Although his debut film Holiday in Seoul (1997) and many of the films to follow did not establish him as a major star, in 2000 he would score a significant hit playing the villain in firefighting film Libera Me. The following summer, the runaway success of Kim Sang-jin's comedy Kick the Moon (over 4.3 million tickets sold) secured his place in the industry as a leading actor with strong star appeal. All of his films since then have been successes at the box-office.

In early 2003, Cha took on a slightly more serious role as a corrupt schoolteacher who is transferred to a country school in the film My Teacher, Mr. Kim. The film grossed over 2.4 million admissions and drew Cha additional praise for his acting abilities. His next role then re-united him with director Kim Sang-jin in a successful comedy {Ghost House} about a man who buys a dream home, only to discover it is haunted by a young female ghost.

In 2005 Cha put aside the comic roles he had become known for and appeared in the grisly period-set thriller Blood Rain. The film's better than expected commercial success confirmed Cha's popularity among Korean audiences. In late 2005 Cha will appear for the first time in a film {The Big Scene (also known as Murder, Take One)} by reknowned comedy director Jang Jin.

Cha Seung-Won ironically said, in an interview after the screening of the film: “I finally graduated from middle school. Now the real studying begins.” He’s got a point. While Koreans have elected him as one of the few bonafide box office draws, it was a long and painful process for him. Starting with modeling in the late 80s, getting a few decent roles in TV Dramas, finally debuting on the big screen, with only one-dimensional characters which did little to further his career. Then came ’리베라 메 (‘Libera Me’), not exactly a great film, but his performance there raised more than a few eyebrows. Do we have a good actors on our hands? It wasn’t until Cha met and started working with Kim Sang-Jin and writer Park Jung-Woo that his potential got fulfilled. Several surefire comedy hits followed, establishing him as the (male) King of Comedy. Women loved him because he showed warmth, he was masculine without unnecessary machismo, and had a great sense of humour; men respected him because he was like the older friend next door, who acted tough but was always great fun to deal with. But the moment you realize people really like your work, something changes. You stop thinking about the quick bucks, and start worrying about your future. For how long could he continue to do comedies? Until people got tired of him? Then that positive greed and hunger to become a better actor comes out. One could safely say ‘Blood Rain’ is the turning point of Cha’s career. Assuredly stoic and stubborn in the first part, slowly allowing his conscience to get the better of his rationality in the second, Cha gives what could be considered his best performance to date. Charisma and ability to deliver ad-lib aside, this role required a lot of focus: he couldn’t explode with his screen presence, because Won-Gyu’s tongue is sharper than his physicality. For that reason alone, his efforts doubled, and although it’ll take time for him to adapt to his new ‘clothes,’ and maybe even more to be accepted by critics as a ‘serious’ actor, I think he’s got all the potential in the world to do that.

Park Yoochun was raised in Seoul, South Korea but moved to Chantilly, Virginia in the United States when he was 11 years old (Sixth Grade) with his family. In 2001, at a song festival, he won the Daesang (the highest award) and started to spread his name around. In 2003 in a Youth music festival, he recieved a special award and because of that, he caught one of SM's recruiting team's attention. Yoochun's piano skills and song writing skills are great. He has written over 100 songs before his debut. He has good taekwondo skills too. In elementary school he represented the state's taekwondo team and performed with them on "Children's day". Micky Yoochun who has lots of talents, announced that he gave up his U.S Citizenship. It was to concentrate on his singing career. In order to keep up with the U.S citizenship he has to go to the states 2 or 3 times in a year. So it would be hard to peform in Korea all the time. Yoochun has announced that when he becomes an adult, he is going to join the army with DBSK members.

Facts 

Official debut: December 26th 2003 in BoA and Britney Spears Showcase (with TVXQ)

Yoochun lived in Fairfax, Virginia for roughly four years since 1998 before he auditioned for Brothers Entertainment and was sent to Korea to SM Entertainment.

He had to take a lot of part time jobs to earn money to buy his first piano and for the plane ticket to Korea.

Micky was Yoochun's English nickname when he lived in Virginia.

Aftercoming back to Korea from America, he became a trainee for only six months before officially joining DBSK as the last member.

He appeared in Magolpi's debut music video "Flight Girl".

Going to Japan was his scariest experience so far.

Ramen is his favourite Japanese food.

He's into Japanese anime "Detective Conan" and used to collect (or still is ^^) Gundam Seed plastic models. He also loves to read comic books (mangas). His (young) fans often send them to him as gifts. His favorites are "One Piece" and "Bleach". 

Yoochun has 4 tattoos. The first one on his right leg, reportedly a feather, is an Indian symbol of brotherhood, that he and his brother Yoohwan share.The second one is on his lower back which says TVfXQMYC. The third one says "Always Keep The Faith", that Jaejoong also has. The fourth one is a wing, with "My Jaejoong, My Yoohwan, My Junsu" written above. The third and forth tattoos are both on his left chest. 

He had his first kiss during a ski trip, after debut.

He took a lot of part time jobs when he was in Virginia to help out parents financially. 

Yoochun is left-handed but he can write with both hands. He uses chopsticks with his left hand but he writes with his right hand.

He is very generous and often pays for meals. 

He wants to pursue acting.

He bought a house to live with his mother and younger brother after they came back to Korean from the US in 2008. 

Yoochun is often teased by other members because of his large forehead which is also the most common reason for his fights with Junsu.

Yoochun did Taekwondo for 6 years when he was in elementary school.

He opened an Italian ice-cream shop (Timeout Gelato) for his mother on Mother's day.

He is really scared of bugs.

He liked to sing, dance, dressing up and paying attention to hairstyles since he was small.

Yoochun still has asthma and allergy to dogs but he refused to let Harang be taken away. This is also why he sometimes has to wear sunglasses onstage. For now Yoochun has 3 dogs: Harang (The Love from God) - Alaskan Malamute, Namu (Trees ~ LOL) - Golden Retriever and Norae (Song) - Toy Poodle. It was Yoochun himself who went to puppies' shop and bought Harang and Namu and raised them since when they were tiny. Norae is fangift. One time Yoochun went out to buy foods for Harang (Namu was not there yet), he ran into some fans and they gave him Norae. He said that at that time, Norae was looking at him as if she wanted to say: "Take me with you!!!" 

He has a small stomach therefore native Korean food suits him the best. Every time he comes home from abroad, the first thing he has to eat is kimchi soup. 

Yoochun got his driving licence when he was 16 in America.

To him, the color of love is black.

He got an acrophobia, thus he couldn't ride the ferris wheel.

He wrote lyrics for his solo song My Girlfriend, one main song of TRICK series, at Starbucks.

When he is having supper, because he feels lonely, he will force others to accompany him.

INTRODUCTION

Lee Sang-yoon (LSY) was picked out of a crowd on the streets of Yeouido by his former agency director at the age of 24.

Making his entertainment debut in 2005 in a Hite Beer commercial, he went on to star in several television series.

He won Best New Actor at the 2010 MBC Drama Awards for Home Sweet Home. Sang Yoon is best known for his starring roles in Life is Beautiful, The Duo, My Daughter Seo-young and Angel Eyes.

LSY made his first big screen leading role in the romance film Santa Barbara & was premier in South Korea on 16 July 2014.

In August 2013, LSY graduated from the prestigious Seoul National University with a degree in Physics.

He had entered as a freshman in 2000, but his acting career and mandatory military service had caused him to take several years of leave from SNU, resulting in his delayed graduation. Congratulations!

Moon So-ri (b. July 2, 1974) first appeared in plays and short films such as Black Cut and To the Spring Mountain before finding fame as a leading actress. Her first film role was in Lee Chang-dong's acclaimed Peppermint Candy, however her acting skills were not really showcased until she appeared in her second film Oasis, also by Lee Chang-dong. Her powerful portrayal of a woman with cerebral palsy earned her strong praise as well as the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Actor or Actress at the 2002 Venice International Film Festival. The following year she again found fame in Im Sang-soo's third film A Good Lawyer's Wife. In 2004, Moon played opposite Song Kang-ho in The President's Barber, a film that illustrates 20 years of modern Korean history through the eyes of president Park Chung-hee's personal barber. She took a more central role in her next feature Sa-kwa (2005), about a woman who embarks on a new relationship after being dumped by her long-time boyfriend. Also from 2005, Mommy, Dearest sees her return to the historical era of the late 70s/early 80s in a family drama set against the political upheaval of those times.

Actress Moon So-ri plays a temptress in her upcoming film "Bewitching Attraction", a totally different spectrum from that which she showed in the 2002 melodrama "Oasis" in which she played a woman with a cerebral palsy.

A poster for an upcoming movie immediately catches people's attention. A woman wearing a short skirt is bending over revealing her cleavage. Its title reads "Bewitching Attraction (Yogyosu-ui Unmilhan Maeryok)".

It might take you time to recognize the actress and it may take you even more time to recognize her as the woman with cerebral palsy from the 2002 melodrama "Oasis".

A range of spectrums that Moon So-ri, 31, has shown playing all walks of life in her acting career is surely her true "bewitching" attraction.

In the new adult comedy, she plays an attractive professor who has a talent for seducing men, but finds herself in trouble when she encounters a man who knows a naughty secret from her past.

But even for the versatile character actress, this role was challenging because of its sexually explicit nature.

"I think I've done this without thinking of the consequences and I may have to emigrate to another country", Moon said jokingly during a news conference on March 8 after a preview screening of the movie at Daehan Theater in Seoul.

"But I'm happy that I was able to play a unique character. Although this kind of movie is not something that people can easily watch, I hope people will see this as a funny film", Moon said.

She made her debut as a film actress in the 1999 movie "Peppermint Candy", and she left moviegoers with a strong impression in her role in "Oasis". Due to her impressive role in "Oasis", she won a huge reputation as well as awards from renowned local and international film festivals, including MarCello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress at the 60th Venice Film Festival.

But delving into various roles didn't stop there.

She played a charming married woman who enjoys a relationship with a young boy next door in the 2003 movie "A Good Lawyer's Wife", a mother and wife in the 2004 black comedy "The President's Barber", and a stubborn single mother who takes care of her only son in the 2005 melodrama "Saranghae Malsunssi (I Love Ms. Malsun - Mommy, Dearest)".

Given the various characters she has played, it seems she is very bold and enjoys challenges, but she says it's not true at all.

"The reason I take roles that people try to persuade me not to take is that those roles are not weighty enough", Moon told monthly film magazine Cine 21. "An actress shouldn't avoid a movie because she has to shoot explicit scenes, if they are necessary for the film".

It seems she believes actresses should cope with various characters even if there are risks to their career, and her faith has made her grow into a versatile actress in comparatively few movies.

"When I was first offered a role in `Oasis', director Lee Chang-dong told me that it might be my last movie and I might not get any more roles. But I just said O.K"., Moon recalled.

She has recently finished shooting her next comedy film "Kajokui Tansaeng (Birth of Family)". She plays a single woman who reunites with her long-separated younger brother.

Now she is in a play titled "Sulpun Yonguk (Sad Play)". She debuted as a theatrical actor in 1996 with "Classroom Idea", often saying she wanted to come back to the stage.

"Acting is a job where your ability has to be exhausted. I am often scared when I think about my own strengths. I learn a lot from acting in a play. I think I have to keep performing on stage", Moon said.

"Bewitching Attraction" will be released at local theaters on March 16.

B I O G R A P H Y

Wang Ji-hyun was born in Seoul, South Korea. Her childhood dream was to become a flight attendant, but at the age of 16, she was discovered on the street by a fashion editor.

 Using the stage name Jun Ji-hyun, she began her career as a model for Ecole Magazine in 1997.

Jun first became well known as a commercial model and as a TV actress. 

Although she made her film debut in the little-watched White Valentine in 1999, it was not until later in the year when she was featured in a

 commercial for Samsung My Jet Printer that she became a popular sensation. The dancing and attitude expressed in the ad made her into an icon for Koreans in their late teens and early twenties.

After continuing her TV and modelling career, Jun made her first well-publicized film appearance in late 2000 with Il Mare.

Jun's breakout film was comedy My Sassy Girl, which became a huge hit both in Korea and throughout Asia with its tale of a gullible college student and his slightly unhinged girlfriend.

 The film spent two weeks at No. 1 in Hong Kong, and turned her into Korea's most recognizable star in the Chinese-language market.

 She also won as Best Actress at the 2002 Grand Bell Awards.Two years then passed before she appeared in her next film, an "occult thriller" titled The Uninvited.

2004 saw her return to the big screen in the movie Windstruck, another film by Kwak Jae-yong, the director of My Sassy Girl. 

In  April 13, 2012, more than 600 guests, including celebrities and close friends and family of the star, attended her wedding to banker Choi Jun-hyuk.

Choi is the grandson of famed hanbok designer Lee Young-hee and the son of fashion designer Lee Jung-woo.

14 years after Happy Together in 1999, Jun made her highly anticipated return to television in fantasy romance You Who Came From the Stars.

Hyun Bin shot to stardom in 2005 when he appeared in the hit drama “My Name is Kim Sam-soon”. With the success of “Secret Garden”, Hyun won the top acting award at 2010 SBS Drama Award. On March 7, 2011, Hyun Bin joined the Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROKMC) to fulfill his 21-month mandatory military service. He is set to discharge on December 6, 2012.
